Rossella's India Diary

Cheap Property In Italy

Ross is a very active member of Fotolog, a social networking website much favored by young people, particularly in South America and Italy. I don't remember when she started (around two years ago, I think), and in that time she has surpassed one million page views there!

Her friends from Lecco (and elsewhere) follow her "flog" (as the afficionados call it), but so do many others: she has several times been startled to be greeted by complete strangers who know her from her fotolog. She seems to have many fans, which is not surprising when you look at the quality of her photography and the writing that often accompanies it.

And I read it, not just because it's good, but because I am uniquely privileged as a mother to have such a window into my daughter's life, thoughts, and feelings.

Of course she has been writing about and photographing her new life in India, but so far she's been writing only in Italian - and I know that some people who don't happen to read Italian are nonetheless keen to follow her adventures. So she has graciously consented for me to translate (a job she really should be doing herself, and perhaps may soon be persuaded to!).

I have gone back to her post of last February, when she first told her fotolog audience about her desire to go to Woodstock. See the left sidebar to navigate to other dates.

MomComm(ents) - Diary of a Woodstock Mother

Sept 27, 2007: These translations are fun to do - one more way to share this incredible experience with my beloved daughter. Of course it all brings back memories of my own Woodstock days, and offers chances for reflection on what has and hasn't changed, both at Woodstock and in my own life. I was a student, now I'm a parent, I may have yet other roles to play there in future. All gives me much to think and write about.

I hesitate to intrude on Ross' space, but the easiest way for me to record my reactions to Ross' diary is right on the same pages, so that's how I'll do it. See the bottom of each (but not every) page for additional commentary from me.
