I have recently noticed a tendency in some U.S. writers to write "upon" in place of "on". What makes for this change?

Brava, Deirdre, brava! You're a woman after my own heart. How LONG I've been waiting for someone to call the newsboys and girls on the carpet for their misuse of "impact." I'm a medical transcriptionist and can tell you that in addition to a tooth, you can have an impacted bowel, but an impacted economy is ridiculous and indeed makes the speaker look less than well-educated. I came to your website looking to make sure I was spelling "wreak" (as in "wreak havoc") correctly (I was), but when I saw the name of your website, I had to take a closer look. Interesting. I'm definitely going to come check your site from time to time to hear more of your astute observations. I'm also going to print it up and take it in to work as there are some who might know have known all of these. I was ignorant of the difference between pouring and poring over your work, so I thank you for educating me there.

I don't know who wrote it, but it's worth passing along to you: "Every job is a self-portrait of the person who does it. Autograph your work with excellence." (Found in "God's Little Instruction Book for Men - Special Gift Edition" by Honor Books, Inc.)

May the Lord bless you, your family and your business.
