> an idea whose time has come? Hardly necessary at Heathrow, however, which is well stocked with real bookstores, which even offer special airport-only editions! |

London's Heathrow is a great airport to kill time in, with every possible kind of shop and restaurant, and great bookstores. On the other hand, security is a nightmare there. They only allow you to put one bag of any sort through the scanner, so if you've got both a purse and a carry-on (which the airlines allow you to do), you have to somehow consolidate them before you reach the security line. You only learn this as you're about to enter the security area, so there's always a pile-up of people struggling with luggage at the entrance, with security guards standing over them, chivvying them on. And then you spend 30 minutes in the line anyway, and you have to take your laptop out of the bag you just stuffed everything else into. All this before you get on a bus to change terminals.
what do you like/dislike in an airport?
